My school closures needs you!

Since the WHO announced that school closures may stop the spread of swine flu a lot of parents, teachers and schools have been registering on My School Closures.

As My school closures is a completely free service we need volunteers to help us monitor all the school closure requests and also help spread the word so no school misses out!
For those who aren’t aware what my school closures is then basically it is a website where schools, parents and teachers can register their email address and mobile(sms) number and recieve free emails and sms notifications if their school is closed.
Learning authorities and district’s worldwide have adopted this open source method to this problem as it is easily embedded into a website or learning platform meaning that parents do not need to visit the my school closures website to recieve the information they need or to subscribe to the service.
Please get in touch if you think you can bring something to our team!

The film that passed me by..

I watched Terra for the first time the other day and it is a good film, way better than a lot of the other animated stuff. I’m guessing cause it wasn’t made by pixar or any of the other big players in Hollywood that it kinda passed us by?

Was I in a bubble when this came out or did it never get any publicity?
Either way go buy it at amazon or download it, if you do download it then remember to buy some merchandise or something not that I’m justifying illegal downloads..
Get it in blu-ray if you’re a TV geek, I watched it on standard DVD and it was great but I bet it is awesome in blu-ray!

Less Than Thirty Seven <3 7

Today I was inspired, not by a book or a speech but by an operating system.

Windows 7 is now running on an OCZ SSD hard disk, I still only have 2 GB of ram but this thing is working blistering fast and so smoothly that my productivity has risen dramatically.
Every option seems to make sense in windows 7, nothing is overly annoying. The restrictive stuff put in for non techy users is easily disabled allowing me to get on with everything I need to.
I’m running a few things in XP compatibility mode so I get the icons in the system tray. All of my applications are working a treat and settings have been easy to migrate.
I am in the process of planning a windows 7 deployment at a primary school and I hope to post the results of our tests in the future.
My hope: SSD disks come down in £ per Mb.
Show some love people, show some love.
