It’s amazing that Sparklebox still exists, it’s old news that the owner is a convicted paedophile.
Adverts provided by Google are even more obvious and prominent on the site with the front page alone containing 5+ adverts. The site even provides malware that will change your search provider and possibly install spyware, in a nutshell the website is toxic and anyone using it is taking huge risks.
It’s time for Google to take action, supporting this site with revenue shouldn’t be an option and it should be a non-issue to stop allowing the site to obtain revenue after committing the crimes the owner has committed.
Leaving aside the legal issues of who owns it now (as I don’t know if he does any more) – I’m amazed by the number of teachers in schools who simply don’t care about the absolutely certain past connection he had to the site – just shows how human morals go out of the window when it comes to pragmatism 🙁
Samuel Kinge is still listed as a director of Sparklebox Teacher Resources Ltd according to http://companycheck.co.uk/company/06164228
It’s reasonable to assume he is still the owner.
Can you explain how it changes the home page? I can’t find how it does that. The front page only seems to have 3 google ads too. Can you tell me more about the spyware? What does it do exactly? I can’t find any other sources that collaborate this but I’d really interested to if this is true or whether its just what you believe a paedophile in his situation would do.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m completely on your side. It’s just that you need to be abit careful with making comments about companies online like this. If you are successful in damaging what the site earns you open yourself up to being sued for defamation if you can’t prove your comments are true. I do sympathise that you must hate the guy but its not worth sacrificing yourself when there’s ways to sort this out that aren’t unlawful. I’ll send you an email offering ways you might be able to tackle this without resorting to libel.
I don’t hate the guy at all, he is not a concern of mine. What is a concern is that Google is more interested in making money than protecting children and that Google’s adsense policies aren’t stopping him from monetizing any website that provides services to vulnerable people either directly or indirectly..
Yeah personally that’s what I’m really interested in. I don’t think there’s anything to say that the site presents a risk in terms of spyware or malware. Similarly, I’m not quite sure how the site could put children at risk either really: it doesn’t seem to have an content that attracts children to contact him; it seems to be solely aimed at adults. The site is very uninteractive too in terms of people not being able to share things about their school or whatever. I think its quite crafty he’s set it that way to avoid accusations,The issue is that conscientiously google shouldn’t support people that have commited crimes against children. They shouldn’t be monetising his site knowing what he’s done. To me at least that’s the key issue.
