I found a new level of respect for teachers this week.
Teachers nationwide used our technology to run live, on-line lessons for their pupils, this meant that learning was able to continue even with school closures.
These teachers are an inspiration. Keep up the good work, you know who you are! If you are one of these teachers then please leave a comment and maybe a link to a blog post about how you delivered your lessons!
I learned so much this week, it started with and idea any by the end of the wek I had provided 3 hours of extra lessons for my snow captive pupils! Here is a blog post about what I did: http://mrmitchell.heathfieldcps.net/2010/01/06/my-snow-day-online-collaboration-lessonsresources/ and here is a the 2nd lesson: http://y62010.heathfieldcps.net/2010/01/07/online-live-class-number-2/
The ideas began as just some thoughts in my head but quicker saw the potential of PrimaryPad and together with my PLN we put together this shared document: http://mrmitchell.heathfieldcps.net/2010/01/05/snow-day-ideas-for-online-learning/
I plan to do many more of these online sessions and exploit as many learning opportunities as I can out of school time!
I dropped in on a fellow teacher's awesome Science lesson delivered using Primarypad this week. He had approx 30+ pupils in the room there was no noticeable change from having 2 users. The platform is so versatile in its possibilities within school as well as extending opportunities to learn.
